What if you are allergic to soy? Will a soy candle cause any harm?

The answer to this question is no, for the simple reason you are not ingesting the wax. It’s the digestive proteins that trigger the allergy. Since you are burning the candle, the protein chains are broken up and are no longer the same molecules that could cause the allergy.

However, an allergy caused by a soy scented candle is very common.

If by some reason you do have a reaction, which can happen,  it’s caused by the added fragrance not the soy wax. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine how you will react to each fragrance. The only way to know the out come is to light the candle and observe your reaction. Fragrance materials that are known allergens are not used by the fragrance industry.

The bottom line is not to worry about soy wax candles aggravating your allergies. If you don’t want to push the envelope avoid any kind of fragrances you know that will trigger your allergies.
